  • Sunset over the Grand Canyon and Colorado River from the Tonto Plateau near Plateau Point. In the distance is Horn Creek Rapid at mile 90.8 and rated as a 7 to 9. At lower water, forms very large waves and is one of the most difficult rapids in the canyon. The Grand Canyon section of the Colorado River, like several other big-water Western rivers, uses a scale of 1-10 for rapids, 10 being the most difficult.
